Cardiff CULTURE

NewTheatre.gif (98314 bytes) Cardiff's National Museum and Galleries house one of the most extensive collections of impressionist paintings outside Paris and is a must on every agenda.

Music, of course, features strongly in the capital city of Wales and the renowned Welsh National Opera perform here regularly. The prestigious Cardiff Singer the World is also held here bi-annually.

Cardiff has also become something of a rock capital in recent years, largely due to the phenomenal success of Welsh groups such as the Manic Street Preachers, Catanonia and the Stereophonics, all of whom have maintained their strong national identities.

South Wales is dotted with castles, most notably the stunning elaborate neo-Gothic Cardiff Castle located in the middle of the city.

Wales is a bilingual country and you will hear Welsh as well as English spoken on the streets of Cardiff.
